Born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Michael graduated from the University of Minnesota where he earned a liberal arts degree in Sociology of Law Crime and Deviance and a Business degree from the Carlson School of Management.  He earned his juris doctor from William Mitchell College of Law. 

Michael’s early legal career began at Neighborhood Justice Center where he vigorously represented hundreds of low income criminal defendants throughout the Twin Cities.

Before forming Kennedy & Cain PLLC, Michael practiced criminal defense and small business law including entity formation, litigation, licensing and compliance at The Law Office of Michael Cain, LLC.

Michael has experience representing doctors, clinics, health care providers, childcare centers, non-profit agencies, contractors, interpreting agencies, restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, body shops and various manufacturers.  Criminal defense clients range from complex white collar cases, violent crimes, sex crimes to DWIs, drug cases and all misdemeanor and traffic violations.

Michael lives in Roseville with his wife and two children.
